The topic for this program is The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Hunting & Fishing Initiative which proposes changes to hunting and fishing license fees. Tom Chapin explains how hunting and fishing are woven into the fabric of Minnesota’s culture. Nearly 2 million people fish our lakes and streams; nearly 700000 people hunt our fields and forests. Together, these activities generate $3.6 billion in direct expenditures each year and support 55000 jobs. The three guests includes Conservation Officer Tom Sutherland, Dave Weitzel , Assistant Area Fisheries Manager and Perry Loegering, Area Wildlife Manager. They will talk about how the DNR spends license dollars. License revenue goes directly into the DNR’s Game and Fish Fund, a special account of funds that can only be used for their intended purposes.
