Went local fishing at the Santa Monica Pier in California. At this particular pier, a fishing license is not required, therefore its less expensive, however there are pitfalls. Because of contaminates in local waters, theses variety of fish should not be eaten: White Croaker Barred Sand Bass Black Croaker Topsmelt Barracuda Stop polluting and causing these issues…damnit. The effected areas include Santa Monica and the areas south: Marina Del Rey, Redondo Beach, Long Beach Harbor, and down to Seal Beach Pier. What a shame! There are fish that can be eaten and for a list go to www.pvsfish.org. However, everything we catch is returned, wounded of course–but back to the ocean, lol. In summary, is nothing safe anymore?

Monster Halibut Gets Away!!!

Well, the reason I didn’t bring my speargun was because I forgot to bring my fishing license. In fear of “breaking the law” and coming out of the water with fish and a game warden asking me…”Can I see your fishing license?” I opted to dive without my speargun. OF COURSE!!! The first time I dive without my speargun I see this beautiful 36 inch halibut on the bottom. The best I could do was videotape the encounter for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy! Shot with the GoPro Hero and a flat lens in 1080p. Filmed off the coast of Palos Verdes, California.
